Why I Started My Memphis Mailbox

I moved from Chicago to Memphis in 2021 with my wife and kids, and started an online boutique. Like a lot of new business owners, I needed a professional address for my store — somewhere customers could reference that wasn't my home address. Researching my options, I discovered virtual mailboxes, something I didn't even know existed. But the nearest location for the service I wanted was over 200 miles away. That's when it clicked: there was a real, unmet need right here in Memphis — one I could build and have a direct impact on immediately. That felt right. So I created the local service I'd been looking for myself, and I run it the way I'd have wanted as a customer: personally, reliably, and with care for everyone who walks through the door.

That personal approach is the whole point. My Memphis Mailbox is a licensed CMRA (Commercial Mail Receiving Agency) at 2298 Young Ave in Cooper-Young — a real storefront where a real person answers the phone and your mail is handled by someone who knows your name. We serve small businesses, entrepreneurs, frequent travelers, and individuals across Memphis and beyond, all using a professional Memphis address they can manage from anywhere. — Brian Sheridan, Owner Today, that means real people answering the phone, a real Midtown storefront, and the full range of services a growing business needs — mail forwarding, package acceptance from every carrier, digital scanning, notary, and printing, all in one visit. I still think about that customer 200 miles from the nearest option, and I built this to be the place I wish had existed for her.
